Cheap NFL Jerseys Football Preview: Cardinals Cheap 49ers Jerseys

The kickoff of week 5 will feature a battle by the bay when the Arizona Cardinals come to town to take on the San Francisco 49ers cheap nfl jerseys. It goes without saying that this is not a position that the Cardinals thought they would find themselves in as this will be a matchup between the two basement dwellers of the NFC West. For the 49ers, this is the position that the experts thought that they would be in but the 49ers have higher aspirations and will look to get back on the right track and make a statement against the red birds. The Cardinals are road favorites at 4.5 while the over under sits at 43.5.

The Arizona Cardinals will walk into Levi Stadium with a bit of a chip on their shoulder as they have dropped their last two games against teams where victories were almost expected. Their loss last week was most painful of all as not only was it a home game loss against a division opponent but also saw their quarterback go down with a concussion. Although reports on Tuesday seemed more encouraging than they were during the Sunday Post game , Carson Palmer now finds himself in the murky waters of concussion protocol and his Thursday night availability rests in the hands of the doctors. Even though his touchdown to interception ratio isn’t as stellar now (6/5) than it was at this point last season (10/3) the presence he brings is undeniable. Waiting in the wings in case Palmer isn’t cleared to make his start is Drew Stanton. Although some may want to hit the panic button, it should be noted that in Stanton’s thirty career starts he is 3-1 verse the 49ers. He is also 2-0 in his career when playing games after the sun goes down.

It will be imperative for David Johnson to continue to play well as the Cardinals may look to lean on the run given the potential dilemma with their quarterback. The 49ers have given up the fourth-most yards (493) to opposing running backs this season which is more than a hundred yards given up than Johnson’s respective week 3 and week 4 opponents. The matchup should come in handy for Johnson who is looking for his first hundred yard game on the ground. Offensive production will be attainable no matter who plays quarterback as the 49ers have surrendered 1,375 yards in the last three weeks. The pass catchers in this game will still need to garner some attention as the Cardinals currently have five receivers with 150 yards or more receiving. One of the pass catchers to really keep an eye is John Brown who per game targets has increased drastically in the first four weeks. The middle of the field specifically will be open for targets with the 49ers losing the heart and soul of their defense in Navarro Bowman to an Achilles injury.

Carlos HydeWe are now four weeks into a Chip Kelly offense and you may be surprised to find out that the first quarter of his rookie coaching season isn’t that far off from his first season with the 49ers. Through his first games in 2013 his Eagles were sitting at 1-3 with ninety-nine points scored while this year he is coaching a 1-3 team that has ninety points scored. The bulk of the teams offensive production can be attributed to the running game as they have scored seven touchdowns on the ground. Five of those seven scores have come from Carlos Hyde who in the early going is staying healthy despite a heavy workload which has him tied for sixth in the league in rushing attempts. The safe assumption would be that this is a bad matchup for Hyde but the Cardinals are giving up 4.1 yards per carry this season and are tied in giving up the 12th most rushing yards .

If there has been an issue within the 49ers offense, it is undoubtedly resonating from the quarterback position. Poor decision making including a costly second-half interception last week by Blaine Gabbert is what is leaving the 49ers unable to sustain any sort of substantial drives. To put the passing game into perspective, as previously mentioned the Cardinals at this point has five receivers with 150 yards or more receiving while the 49ers have one. In most cases, a run heavy offense can stay afloat in games as long as the teams defense is playing well. With the 49ers losing Navarro Bowman and giving up as many yards as they do it is essential for Gabbert to be more productive in the passing game in order for the 49ers to have a chance in this one. In the three games that the 49ers have lost it has been by an average of about 15 points and I think the 49er faithful are in for another loss along those lines. It will be a tight game in the first half but eventually the 49ers lack of a passing attack will catch up with them and the game will slip away. Look for another costly second-half interception to coincide with the beginning of Colin Kaepernick whispers.

My Prediction: Cardinals 27 49ers 17

Some folks will have some understandable trepidation heading into this Thursday night game and that’s okay. Both running backs should be the plays of the day in this one without a doubt. The loss of Navarro Bowman will loom large in the middle of the field and if David Johnson can get to the next level on some running plays he could potentially break off some big plays. Carlos Hyde will continue to be productive despite his quarterbacks inconsistent play and I expect him to reach the end zone at some point in this contest. I like John Brown to continue his upward trend of targets. I alluded to the middle of the field being open for wide receiver traffic and Brown, is the one I’m expecting to take advantage of that . Larry Fitzgerald is a solid start as well and if there are passes of 12 yards or more I like them to head towards Fitz. While the 49ers have only given up 622 yards to wide receivers they have allowed 6 touchdowns so I suspect on these Cardinal receivers will put up a score in this one. If I’m in a deep PPR league and was up against it on bye weeks I would look into Jeremy Kerley’s direction. He is currently the most targeted 49er (32) through the first four weeks. Other than that I don’t consider any 49er receiver is worth a start in this one. I don’t think there is a tight end worth starting in this matchup but don’t be shocked if Darren Fells turns out to be a tight end that helps no one this week. This is in all likelihood could be a Drew Stanton start and he may look to his tight end. It doesn’t hurt to note that the 49ers have given up the sixth-most fantasy points to the tight end position. I personally need to see how the loss of Bowman will affect the 49er defense so I would look for better options to start as a defense. The Cardinals are a talented defense who is in a rut so I still wouldn’t mind playing them.
